Our community of faith began as a mission in 1966 and today has grown to a thriving parish of over 750 people of the Spirit.
The Church of the Holy Spirit is an Episcopal church in the American branch of the world-wide Anglican Communion, in the Diocese of New Jersey. Our worship brings together the best of both the Reformed and Catholic traditions, celebrating Word and Sacrament. Our liturgy is centered in the Holy Eucharist, using an expansive variety of prayers, text and music. We encourage all baptized persons to join us in receiving communion.
We are a high-energy, deeply committed, and extraordinarily passionate community of faith. We focus our attention on the fulfillment of our mission, a statement found throughout this website. Our Community is based upon the biblical principle of Koinonia: a mutual sharing between members of the Body and an indwelling relationship between the Creator and Creation. All are welcome to visit and worship with us as we rejoice in the active and joyful presence of the Living God.
We are conveniently located close to Rt. 78 in beautiful Hunterdon County, New Jersey, USA. Click here for directions.
If you would like more information about our church, please feel free to call the office or you may email us at admin@churchholyspirit.org.
The most visible and obvious mark of our Church is a welcoming and friendly spirit. All are encouraged to seek community and leadership in our midst. Most of our members come from the surrounding area of Hunterdon County, a once rural hill country in western New Jersey. Our average age is about 43. While most of us are doing the hard and joyful work of loving a spouse and our children, all of us are committed to figuring out what God means for us to be as faithful witnesses of Christ Jesus. Since our geography draws many from areas without a town center or with regional school districts, this Church intentionally focuses upon building and maintaining community.
We enjoy a variety of often outrageous social functions throughout the year, with special attention paid to having high-energy fun. We also enjoy performing acts of maintenance, sharing the burden of basic organizational hygiene across many different ministries and through varied forms of communication. We are mindful of the needs of our members through the We Care Team, and our Pastoral Care ministry. Many opportunities for Christian education and fellowship exist within groups that meet weekly or biweekly, such as the Tuesday bible study group. Groups dedicated to providing service to the needs of people in the communities around us include our Prison Ministries team, Country Arch Nursing Home group, and a Prayer Shawl Ministry ("Knit & Chat") team.
Each member of our community is encouraged and exhorted to seek discernment and enactment of their God-given gifts for ministry.
