Drivers urgently needed - September 2022
As most of you CHS folks are aware, we have members who by reason of advancing age or disability occasionally need assistance with getting to doctor appointments. The recipients of our help are always most grateful. I've been trying to oversee a list of driver volunteers to call upon when needed. Unfortunately everyone is busy, and it's been very difficult to fill the slots we need. So after discussion with Susan Kane, who does a lot of quiet volunteer work that most of us most likely don't see (and she is only one person, after all), I am asking for the support of the congregation.
Our adopted family needs much more transportation assistance than usual because the two oldest children of four, who have their licenses, are now away at school. Their mom's health is not getting better. Over the next months she will require longer treatments at Hunterdon. Alas, the family lives in Washington NJ, and the round trip is a long one. If there are any folks out there who can assist on an as-needed, and hopefully infrequent, basis, could you shoot me a note? The more folks we have on the distribution list, the fewer times we will have to call on you. The key is to respond one way or another. PLEASE. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN ADD YOU TO THE LIST. OR NOT. Silence is not golden in this case. I will have to be compiling an updated list, especially for Washington - Flemington and return, soon. The appointments for at least one of our CHS parishoners will be lengthy. So I'm happy to slot two drivers per trip as needed. My thought was that some folks (me included) could do both ways if they had appointments or errands to run in Flemington. Leave that to me. WWJD? vicki.brooks24@comcast.net.

We Care Driver Angels: We Care can provide drivers for medical necessity. Various CHS folks have procedures scheduled and would benefit from help by a friendly parishioner rather than a stranger. Susan Kane and Deacon Dot Hospador are the We Care coordinators for overall assistance; Vicki Brooks will schedule the drivers as requested. We have a small group of friends who have volunteered in the past. If you would like to join them and might be available from time to time, please email or text Vicki to be added to the list (vicki.brooks24@comcast.net). Thanks for your help!
