We are thrilled to announce that we have secured a property for our Sober Living Home in Flemington, NJ, which we have named "The Butterfly House". We are currently in the process of obtaining a license from the state of NJ to operate as a sober living house. We will be able to accommodate up to 10 women, and we need furniture such as twin beds, dressers, couches, chairs, and other items to set up a new home. The Mommy & Me House is a spacious residence located in Hunterdon County that provides a haven for mothers and young children survivors of domestic abuse. The house has a large yard for the children to play in and is conveniently located next to a daycare. We aim to accommodate 5 mothers, each with up to two children under the age of 5. We are also in need of adult and children’s furniture including beds, children's furniture, and other necessary items to set up a home for mothers with young children. Dear friends, After hearing from a few people, I reserved, "The Four Winds," by Kristin Hannah, for next weekend. As you'll recall, this book recounts the determination of one woman to save her land during the Great Depression. Faced with the Dust Bowl's bleak prospects at that time, she must decide whether to follow the other farmers to California or to stay on her land and struggle to survive. I'm looking forward to reading this with you. The books are now in the church office. All my very best to you. Suzanne HMC has recently seen a significant increase in homeless patients, and the staff has become concerned about discharging them when it is apparent the patients walk out the door with virtually nothing to tide them over. Our project is to collect items for 40 care parcels that can be given to these people when they are discharged. John & Suzanne Higgins will provide 40 drawstring bags and CHS will collect donations to fill them. Nylon Drawstring Bags to Contain:
A handwritten note from CHS would be included with each Parcel. Contact Suzanne Higgins to participate suzanne.l.higgins@gmail.com
