Formation Lenten Study 2020
The Way of the Cross
During Lent the children will be learning about the Way of the Cross by listening to the weekly scriptures that tell Jesus’ story from entering the Garden of Gethsemane through the end of his life. Each week the readings will focus on 2-4 stations. After listening to the readings, children can be given an opportunity to describe, portray, or express one station they heard about. Supplies such as canvas and paint, wood and nails, clay, and drawing materials can be used. Please send photos of any art work the children are willing to share. Jesus is condemned by the Sanhedrin – Matthew 26:57-64 4. Jesus is denied by Peter – Matthew 26:69-75 5. Jesus is judged by Pilate – Matthew 27:11-26 6. Jesus is beaten and crowned with thorns – Matthew 27:27-31 7. Jesus takes up His cross – Matthew 27:31/John 19:16-17 8. Jesus is helped by Simon to carry His cross – Matthew 27:32 9. Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem – Luke 23:27 10. Jesus is crucified – Luke 23:32-38 11. Jesus promises His kingdom to the repentant thief – Luke 23:39-43 12.
