W3K 2025
We 3 Kings (W3K) Epiphany 2025 – House Blessings during Epiphany are a cherished CHS tradition. On Sunday, January 5th, instead of kicking off a 14-route, 6-week house blessing marathon, we are planning something new. We will celebrate Epiphany with the blessing of chalk and holy water, and the distribution of house blessing kits for parishioners to bring home with them to use on the following evening, Monday, January 6th, the actual Feast Day of the Epiphany. Beginning at an appointed hour, all Holy Spirit households will be asked to simultaneously celebrate the Blessing of their Homes, starting with inscribing the lintels over their entry door(s), and then processing from room to room, reciting prayers specific to each space. We hope each CHS household will return a “selfie” taken in front of the door to their home for a collage we will create and a slide show we will project at the Annual Meeting of the parish on the fourth Sunday in January. As our W3K logo this year, we are very grateful to be using the image taken of an original painting by parishioner and artist, Roberta Maas-Wester.
We celebrate Epiphany, the manifestation of Christ in the world, in an extraordinary way by blessing the homes of parishioners and friends. This congregation-wide event energizes our community and enfolds newcomers. In many years, volunteer drivers chauffeur our rector along twelve neighborhood routes. In 2024, over a quarter of the 200 blessings were for the homes of neighbors and friends of the parish, offering gentle evangelism to our local community.
