Plan for Good Friday and Sign Up

3/24/2025

On Friday, April 18th, we will observe Good Friday through our annual “Day of Service,” a beautiful manifestation of our shared purpose, community service, and congregational engagement. We have service opportunities for any energy level and any amount of time available. The day concludes back at the church with a soup supper and time for fellowship while chatting about the day’s activities, followed by an evening worship service that ends in silent reverence. Together, let’s serve others, demonstrate Christ’s love, and grow in the Spirit.

Knit & Crochet for SCI

3/19/2025

Picture
For this year’s Good Friday Day of Service, the Narthex Knitters and Crocheters will be making cowls.

What is a cowl?  A 7 inch long circular covering for a man or woman’s neck which adds warmth to outdoor clothing.

All are welcome but it would be helpful to have a simple basic knowledge of how to knit or crochet. All cowls that we craft will be donated to the Seamen’s Institute.

What is the Seamen’s Church Institute-The Seamen’s Church Institute is an almost 200 year old organization with a long legacy of serving and protecting the personal and professional lives of mariners and seafarers.   They are committed to partnering with the maritime industry to ensure dignity within the workplace.  Through their efforts, mariner’s enjoy a safer more respectful and sustainable maritime community.

What should I bring?

You can just show up!!!!! Yarn will be available as well as knitting needles.  If anyone wants to bring their own knitting or crocheting tools here’s what you need to know.

The knit cowl requires size 8 knitting needles-16” circular needle preferred but 8” straight needles will work as well.

For the crocheted cowl a US hook I is needed.
All yarn must be worsted or #4 yarn.

Questions?-  Jan Paxton <[email protected]>for crocheting and Mary Scott <[email protected]> for knitting.
