Our next selection, "Horse," by Geraldine Brooks, is in the CHS office for you to pick up. This Pulitzer Prize winning author based this book on the true story of a famous 19th century racehorse, Lexington, and the deep bond with his enslaved groom, Jarrett. The book shifts between the racism of the 1800s to contemporary racial issues inherent in the racing industry. It also explores the everyday challenges humans face, and their journeys through life, as well as how they resolve conflicts with good and evil. Enjoy!!
