CHS Children's Formation is resuming on September 13!
CHS Children's Formation meets at 10:00am in Dove Hall on the first three Sundays of each month, September through June. All ages are welcome and children rejoin the main service at The Peace. We always have two adults leading the children. Our focus is ever on becoming like Christ as we serve others, proclaiming God's love, and growing in the spirit. This Fall season, our theme is ‘Welcoming the Stranger’ and ‘Feeding the Hungry.’ The children will be reaching out to our community by making Halloween cards for the children at ‘First Step’ and decorating Thanksgiving bags for Meals on Wheels. We are excited to introduce brand-new lesson plans centered around the Deep Blue Children’s Bible. To help families stay connected, we will share the full schedule with parents so you can reinforce the lessons at home. In Dove Hall, we will cover the tables with butcher block paper, allowing the children to draw and create while listening and discussing the lesson. Our team of adult volunteers is ready to joyfully serve and learn with your children! Please contact Loren Savage for more info at [email protected].

Feed My Starving Children Mobile Meal Pack Event Saturday March 7 from 9-11am Zion Lutheran Church 18 Miller Ave in Oldwick NJ To RSVP or for more info ask Lindsay at [email protected] CHS Children's Formation was cancelled last Sunday, February 1, 2026, because we were short a second adult. All children and youth activities are required by Diocesan rules to have 2 adults present at all times. This formation group is 30-40 minutes long and is so vital if we are to raise our youth to be strong Christians. This is an opportunity to share your wisdom with our children. See Mo. Kim or Lindsay Wyglendowski for more information and to sign up. If you are currently signed up as a member of this team, you should have received an email from Mo. Kim on Tuesday. We hope to have a meeting of this team before March. CHS Children's Formation meets at 10am in the St. Nicholas Room off the narthex. All ages welcome. These winter months they are making blankets for Project Linus once again. We always need more adult volunteers to lead and help as well as organize lessons and volunteers. No experience necessary. Please speak to any vestry member if you feel called to spend time with our children or help behind the scenes.
Parishioners are welcome to engage in a gratitude practice available in the narthex. The children have been making hand ornaments and the teens have assembled the tree and have provided star ornaments to add your own gratefulness ornaments as a physical demonstration for our collective gratitude. Ask the children which hand is theirs!
Thank you Janet Matts for the tree donation. This fall our children wrote more comforting letters to We Care recipients, heard the gospel and created Lego interpretations, and traced their hands and wrote what they are grateful for to make glittery ornaments for the parish gratitude tree.
As advent begins, we will prepare to hear the story of the birth of Jesus and welcome the parish to add their own gratitude ornaments to the collective tree. The Christmas Eve children's service is at 4:00. Children’s Formation begins on September 14th at 10AM. Children's Ministry gatherings begin Sunday September 14 at 10am. We will meet the first three Sundays of each month through Pentecost. Our focus is always on becoming like Christ as we serve others, proclaim God's love, and grow in the spirit. This year we will be welcoming our new rector and new families, reaching out to those in need, and serving within our community. Our team of adult volunteers is ready to joyfully serve and learn with you!
We donated 30 cake kits to The Open Cupboard Food Pantry. Thanks to the Youth Group for shopping for the materials and to all of the children and adults who helped assemble the kits this past month. The Youth Group also won $2,500 for the Pantry from Albertsons Grocery by entering this project into the Explore. Act. Tell. program.
We have Ella the dog coming this Sunday for storytime and song practice and a Pentecost Party next week complete with human Hungry Hungry Hippos courtesy of Evan's learning at the acolyte festival. Thank you Mollie, Patrick, Colin, Lily, Evan, Davison, Chloe, and Aubrey. Your hands have done many good works for others. We have begun opening our time together with the same prayer each week from the Book of Common Prayer: Almighty and eternal God, draw our hearts to you, guide our minds, fill our imaginations, control our wills, so that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated to you; and then use us, we pray, as you will and always to your glory and to the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Chris. Amen. |
